My blog is named after A Love Supreme, John Coltrane's very contemplative masterpiece. It inspires me. This blog is also an attempt to inspire. I am in hte process of working out the connection between social justice and the contemplative path. Currently, my primary inspiration for this project is Jesus, his teachings on the people-power of the Kingdom of God ("Blessed are the poor...") and his spiritual teachings on inner peace and personal transformation. Love. Supreme.......Also, I am currently working on a book regarding these explorations, these thoughts on subversive mysticism. So, I try to drop posts here and there about some of my readings and musings, usually tying them back to my own life and journey. I also post links and reflections on current events that I find significant, and I try to review some of the books I read, that I find pretty keen........Feel free to leave a neighborly comment or drop me a note via email.
The Subversive Mystic
This is an age that, by its very nature as a time of crisis, of revolution, of struggle, calls for the special searching and questioning which are the work of the monk in his meditation and prayer....the monk abandons the world only in order to listen more intently to the deepest and most neglected voices that proceed from its inner depth. - Thomas Merton
