Forty Hours

I was forty hours in the car this weekend. Thank God I am an introvert, easily entertained by books and thoughts.

My sister is a classical vocalist (read: opera singer) at Ohio State University, and her senior recital was this weekend. My folks and I drove from South Dakota to Columbus Ohio. She was superb.

Writer. In the summers, I live and work in the incredible state of Alaska, in the bush community of McCarthy; I pass the winters in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California. I'm working on a memoir-based nonfiction book on the American Dream. I blog, quite frequently, and I also have a novel in process, set in Alaska.

She had a variety of selections. I appreciated the Spanish selections by Juaquin Rodrigo. Bueno. Bueno.

  2. The drive was pretty grueling, but I think it was really worth it. She has a beautiful voice!
    For D. Ogyen: She sang:
Quia Respexit from Magnificat by J.S. Bach
Amorosi miei giorni, Ah, mai non cessate, Luoghi serene e cari, and Freschi luoghi, prati aulenti by StefanoDonaudy
Ah! non credea mirarti… and Ah! non giunge uman peniero by Vincenzo Bellini
Cuatro Madrigales Amatorios by Joaquin Rodrigo
There is a Balm in Gilead and The Gospel of Grace by Mark Hayes
Song of Praise by Raymond Wise

All readers should know this: Jon drove on ice for an hour and we are all still alive. The car never even left the road! He was good! Really good!

Consider this post an invitation, an invitation to comment and collaborate, in an open-ended sort of way, so please share your...whatever it is that's on your mind: thoughts, ideas, greetings, angst/irritation, inspiration, confusion, query, rant, salutation, data/research, meme, epigram, exposition or epiphany -- because I'm all about the synergy and solidarity. ~ JE
