How to avoid war with Iran – CSMonitor.com

As long as we have a military industrial complex, the drums of war will not cease. As long as people stand to profit from an aggressive military, there will always be a battle to fit in order to “protect American interests.”

Amazingly, barely out of Iraq, there are those who would have us start a conflict with Iran. My concern about war is the basic idea that “if you live by the sword, you will die by the sword.” Sowing violence only reaps more violence. It leads to retaliation, and it damages those in the military who have to do the butchering and live with disorders like PTSD.

Here is a short article presenting an alternative to war:

Writer. In the summers, I live and work in the incredible state of Alaska, in the bush community of McCarthy; I pass the winters in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California. I'm working on a memoir-based nonfiction book on the American Dream. I blog, quite frequently, and I also have a novel in process, set in Alaska.
