My writing has been going pretty well so I had to drag myself away for a nice hike. I was helped in this by Paul, a photographer friend of mine, who is working on a photo book of abandoned places like the mines in this area.
These from one of the mines in Kennicott, where artifacts are referred to by locals as “Kennicrap.” Much of the useful Kennicrap was salvaged when folks began to repopulate the area and form a community, in the wake of the abandonment of the mines.
I had the chance to spend a couple of summers (and winters) in Alaska. I am now back home (Romania), but Alaska has a very special place in my heart. I am also working on a short story set in Alaska.
Best of luck with everything and I am looking forward to your novel.
